5 Ways To Use Pavers In Your Property Landscaping

by Tiffany Gonzales

Landscaping your property is just as much about the smaller details as it is about the big decisions, such as where to put in plants and water features. Pavers can play several roles when it comes to bringing these details to fruition in your landscape design plan.

1. Bed borders

Garden beds simply look nicer with a clean, crisp edge between them and the lawn. The quickest way to achieve this is to put in a hard border edging. Pavers work well for this because they are attractive and blend in well with the natural landscaping elements. They are also quite durable and unlikely to suffer damage from mowers and other equipment.

2. Pavement Edging

A common issue is the crumbling of concrete or asphalt edges where they meet the lawn, such as next to a driveway. Weight from vehicles, erosion, and lawn equipment are the culprits that cause the crumbling.  Putting in a decorative border of brick or stone pavers will protect the edge of the pavement. If a paver cracks, it can be replaced much more easily and inexpensively than concrete or asphalt.

3. Patio Building

It's lovely to have an outdoor area for relaxing and entertaining, and pavers are a quick way to get the patio of your dreams. Concrete patio pads take more time and expense to install than a paver patio, which can often be installed and ready to use within hours instead of days. Pavers are also available in a range of colors, shapes, and designs, so you can end up with a truly unique patio.

4. Garden Walkways

Garden paths make your yard more accessible, plus they look nicer than worn-down paths in the grass. A paver path can be put in quickly. There are also a variety of design options, from a solidly paved cobblestone path to a more whimsical path made of flagstones embedded in the grass. Paths can also be as narrow and winding as you please.

5. Wall Building

Low walls can be used in a variety of ways. Pavers can be stacked to create low border walls around garden beds, for example, or you can build a wall around a raised island in the yard and then plant it with small shrubs and flowers to create a focal point. Low walls can also be built from pavers to serve specific purposes, such as creating a fire ring around a firepit or raised edging around a small pond liner.

About Me

Creating A Gorgeous Garden

I have always been someone who absolutely adores being outside, which is probably one of the reasons I decided to buy a home with a large lot. However, as soon as I moved in, I realized that yard work was a lot more challenging than I had anticipated, which is why I called in a team of professional landscapers. They were amazing to work with and got right to it, and within a few days, the yard was looking amazing. I wanted to create a blog all about creating beautiful outdoors spaces so that other people can help to beautify the world.
