5 Landscaping Design Tips For Your Business

by Tiffany Gonzales

Good landscaping should be considered a key part of your business's image. An attractive building exterior extends all the way to the surrounding road or sidewalk since the appearance of this area impacts how customers think about your business.

1. Line Walkways

If there are sidewalks that lead up to your building or those that cross over other parts of the grounds, use border plants to line the walkways. Border plantings like knee-high flowering plants and low hedges serve a few purposes. They are attractive, which creates a welcoming vibe. The border beds also help visitors and clients quickly find the walkways. Further, they create a barrier that helps funnel pedestrians toward the entrance while preventing damaging shortcuts over the lawn.

2. Frame the Entrance

Creating a welcoming entrance gives clients and customers a great first impression while also making it clear where they need to go when approaching your business. You can frame entrances with small trees or shrubs if the space allows. If there isn't room to plant landscape framing in the ground, an urn or large pot on either side of the door, each filled with ornamental flowers and foliage, will serve a similar purpose.

3. Keep it Open

Avoid tall hedges and dense trees on all parts of the property. An open landscape design increases visibility, which makes your business easier to find. It also allows for safety, particularly if your business is open after dark. You don't want dense landscaping that a vandal or thief could hide within. Open landscaping with small trees spaced out is also much easier to maintain.

4. Automate When Possible

Automate the maintenance of the landscaping where possible. This can be as simple as installing automatic sprinkler systems that go off during the hours when your business is closed. Automation also means putting landscape care on autopilot by contracting with a landscaper service that comes out on a regular schedule to perform both regular and seasonal care tasks as needed.

5. Avoid Messy Options

Skip any landscaping plants that create a mess. For example, avoid fruiting trees and opt for ornamental varieties that won't leave a sticky mess over sidewalks and parking lots. Skip the tree and shrubs that shed leaves in great numbers over several weeks and instead put in evergreens or tree varieties that drop their leaves all at once. This makes landscape care easier and avoids messes on your grounds.

About Me

Creating A Gorgeous Garden

I have always been someone who absolutely adores being outside, which is probably one of the reasons I decided to buy a home with a large lot. However, as soon as I moved in, I realized that yard work was a lot more challenging than I had anticipated, which is why I called in a team of professional landscapers. They were amazing to work with and got right to it, and within a few days, the yard was looking amazing. I wanted to create a blog all about creating beautiful outdoors spaces so that other people can help to beautify the world.
